I have decided to let this site lapse as it is too difficult to maintain activities in so many places online.
I will continue to use e-mail for announcements as well as SCOA, smartUSAinsider and a new site called Smart Space located at http://smartspace.ning.com/. I have chosen these as they tend to have broad reach. Thanks for your support and if you have questions, comments or concerns please contact me at kwagar@tampabay.rr.com Ken Wagar |

My Name is Matt and I work with Superior Dash....a local manufacturing company...and I had the priveledge of meeting some of you at the Orlando event recently. I would like to join some clubs to get to know the smart community better and help show off some of the products that I make for the smart car. Those of you who I met at the show have seen my cool new Smart Car molded dash interiors and tail light accents. For those of you who haven't I hope to get some pictures up as soon as possible so you can take a look.
Thanks for your attention nad I hope to be a part of some of your meetings and gatherings and I ill try to continue to bring you new ways to personalize your smart! |

Upcoming events-Dec 6th On Saturday Dec 6th at 6:00 PM is the Tavares Sights and Sounds of the Season Christmas Parade. One of our members Ken Reutebuch has registered for smart cars to participate in the parade and has a couple of smarts planning on participating. He would love to have more of you join in. If you can make it please contact Ken R at mreutebuch@embarqmail.com to register and to get further information. Also on Saturday evening, December 6 we will have Smart night at the Drive-In Movies at the famous Silver Moon Drive-In Theater in Lakeland, FL. This is one of the few remaining drive-in movie theaters in the United States. It has two screens and shows primarily first run movies. They have a great snack bar and both through your radio and old fashioned speaker boxes. They get very crowded and often are full on weekend nights so we will want to arrive early to obtain our spaces. The Movie schedules are not announced until a week or so in advance so we will select the screen and movie the week before the event. This night will be all about old fashioned fun so come on out and join us for the evening. For now please plan on arriving by 6:00PM and I will confirm the arrival time a week out based on feedback from the Drive-In. The Directions to the Silver Moon are: —Take I-4 to the County Line Road exit. Go South on County Line Rd to US 92 West. Turn left (East) and look for the flashing neon sign 3.5 miles ahead on the right. The location of the Drive-In is 4100 US 92 W, Lakeland, FL. Please contact me at kwagar@tampabay.rr.com if you plan to attend. Ken Wagar |

Upcoming events: Most of these events are on the far North or far West of our coverage area. This is simply because we are getting good suggestions and good support from those areas. Please join us if at all possible and if you have additional suggestions for events please let me know. 1.Richard Gillen, one of our members who lives in Ocala has set up an event in the Ocala area for Saturday, November 29th. This should be of particular interest to those in Leesburg, the villages and other points north. The event will take place at 3:00 PM on the 29th at Mango’s restaurant North of Ocala. Take I-75 to exit #354 which is US 27. Take US 27 North about 13 miles and Mango’s will be on your left. For a nice post Thanksgiving Holiday drive and get together join other smarties at Mango’s on the 27th. If you plan on being there please contact Richard at rgillen_98@yahoo.com so that he can make the appropriate arrangements with Mango’s. 2.On Sunday afternoon, November 30th at noon our members and friends from Tampa are having a meet and greet and picnic. Sunday afternoon seems to be the best day due to work constraints for some of our members. It will be at Lake Park in North Tampa. John King has offered to grill lemon lime chicken for us. Each member attending should bring whatever sides and drinks you would like as well as a small donation to cover the cost of the chicken. To the best of my knowledge, alcoholic beverages are prohibited but pretty much anything else is game. I will try to secure a picnic shelter but please bring any chairs if you have them in case we can’t get a shelter. The park is also pet friendly as long as you have a leash. Here is the address: 17302 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33549. If you plan to attend this event please let Bill Hitchcock know by e-mailing him at: wdhitch@verizon.net Ken Wagar |

To All Central Florida Smart Car Members
Just a reminder of our meet and greet this Sat morning, November 22 at the Yalaha Bakery. The Music will be provided by an internationally recognized family band from the UK who play Contemporary and Celtic Music. It appears to be a high energy and very entertaining group. They will be playing from 10:00 AM to Noon on the Bakery Patio. The bakery will also be having their weekly cookout and will be selling cold beverages as well. The crowds at the bakery on Saturdays are variable but they can be very heavy and I suspect that with Thanksgiving being next week there will be a crowd stocking up on Breads and Pastries. Vickie and I will try to get there by 9:00 AM again the music starts at 10:00. If you have camp chairs you can bring along you may want them and the music is outdoors so dress appropriate for the weather. Details and driving directions are below. 1.Saturday, November 22 we will have a meet and greet and rally at the famous Yalaha Bakery near Howie in the Hills. The Yalaha Bakery is a German Bakery well known for outstanding breads and pastries. On Sat mornings at 10:00 AM they have live music on their patio.. You can check out information on the bakery at: http://www.yalahabakery.com/ Come out and pick up that special loaf of bread or fancy pastry for your Thanksgiving dinner, meet with the smarties and enjoy some music on the patio.

We have now towed our Smart over 1000 miles, it tows very nice.
I will try to up load a few pictures of it hooked up to our motor home. I installed a Blue Ox base plate on the car and use a Blue Ox Tow Bar. I did not wire the tail lights, instead I use a LED light bar combo tail, brake and turn signals. If you have any questions let me know. I am now at Sun Coast RV in Calera, AL as their Parts Manager and the service techs can install base plates here. Take Care, Larry M. Schmitt Red /Black Smart
